Sonic vs Darkness: Combat Beta is a public beta test featuring the gameplay of Shadow the Hedgehog in Story Mode. This version of the game takes a different approach from the familiar boost-style gameplay and focuses on rushdown combat, taking inspiration from other games such as Sonic Unleashed, Dragon Ball FighterZ and game modes Subspace Emissary and Smash Run from the Super Smash Bros. series. As stated earlier, this is a public beta test, so feel free to contact me for any issues you may come across.

Note: This is a separate application from the Sonic vs Darkness Demo version, which contains many features not present.

[Combat]
– Added new attack allowing the player to hit enemies behind them mid-combo
– Shadow can now accelerate much faster with a mini boost (hold S Key/X Button while holding forward) which sends enemies airborne without dealing damage
– Holding down the shield button after dodging will now retain the shield at the end of the dodge
– Added invincibility during Shadow Teleport
– Chaos powers can now be buffered during combos
– Slightly increased Chaos Blast range
– Slightly increased Chaos Blast strength (2 -> 2.5)
– Chaos Blast horizontal knockback reduced (1 -> 0)
– Reduced the amount of damage the poison effect from the Egg Bishop inflicts (5 -> 4 dmg/sec)
[Sunshine Paradise]
– Made certain chao in Find the Chao mission slightly easier to find
– Removed bottomless pit in underwater section in the Find the Chao mission
– Added an indicator for a falling anchor
– The anchor can now destroy combat variant enemies
– Nightmare Kraken boss uses standard attack more often in pinch mode
[Starlight Garden]
– Removed Wave 3 of enemies in waterfall section
– Added spring before zipline
– Added hazardous wall behind twisting slide in the boosting section
[Training Room]
– Added new Training Room option: Enemies Take Damage [On/Off]
– Training Menu button prompt made more clear
[Others]
– Widened Warp Node entering range
– Links of bridges interpolate their positioning smoothly
– Replaced EXP with 10 loose rings in loot pool

– Fixed issue with game showing an error message at the start of the program
– Fixed issue with falling boxes colliding with the player at their corners causing them to teleport above the box
– Fixed issue with player rotating on bridges
– Fixed the position of the final link of bridges
– Fixed issue with Shadow not being able to double jump with the Shadow Rifle in hand
– Fixed issue with Egg Gunner’s laser shot not staying attached to its gun
– Removed ability to use Shadow Dash during stage transition from Hub
– Fixed issue with a training setting carrying over to stages
– Fixed issue with some items not finishing their rotation properly
– Fixed issue with multi-hit attacks overlapping with single-hit attacks canceling out each other

– All shader effects now disable if hardware does not support shaders

– Fixed error message caused by player’s death after falling out of snowball cannon while re-entering in snowball form
– Fixed issue with controller thumbstick movement not registering in certain menus
